Training Management App: Eazy Fitness

Summery
Easy Fitness is a fitness organization with several branches located in different cities in Ontario. It aspires to create a personalized experience with the finest health and fitness professionals, leading equipment and modern spaces. It's a recognizable fitness club that aims to make a difference in the lifestyle of club members.
The app is an exclusive platform limited to the members and employees of Eazy Fitness to schedule and keep track of training courses, and manage relationships with/between the student and coach. An integrated planning solution where staff and coaches can better serve members of Eazy in a systematic and efficient medium.

Understand the Tasks
How can we bring in more systematic experience for both coach and student to connect and manage courses?
As the members of the club grow, a formal management system is urgently needed for the organization to better manage the member changes and training activities.
Through communicating and understanding the basic needs of the project, we envisioned 2 different areas to begin the research: goal & mission and possible UX/UI
Goal & mission
-
Providing members and coaches with tools to manage fitness classes
-
Connecting members and coaches
-
Allowing members and coaches to keep track of fitness routines.
-
Allowing the coach to keep track of student status
-
Providing fitness related information and blogs
Possible UX/UI
-
Course booking and managing
-
Calendar
-
Chat system
-
course status and training record
-
Fitness blogs aggregation
-
Separated system for student, coach and manager account
User Research
In order to validate the problems and understand the target user, we conducted random interviews with Eazy coaches and students in our primary research to explore existing problems members are actually facing in terms of the training planning experience.
Some Analysis
Coach participants expressed their dissatisfaction with the informal course organizing system which is complicated and non-efficiency (They had to keep the manager informed and update the class and student status through chat apps or in person.)
On the student end, they showed fewer concerns with the system but the lack of a proper platform displayed an amateur attitude for such a professional institution.
Above all, the management may also need assistance to keep track of courses, history and data, organize personnel and foster connections within a systematic and integrated platform.

By analyzing the findings, we were able to reframe our ideas and come up with features that address the problems accurately. Instead of designing something students oriented, we decided to shift our focus more to the UX of coach and manager accounts.
Visual Design
Having a visual identity is a major factor contributing to success within the competitive fitness industry. With the established brand culture and logo, we needed to create corresponding and recognizable visual elements and color schemes to convey a full brand story.
Colors are vital and could influence users' emotions easily, meanwhile, they also help to make the brand memorable. To align with the brand ethos of "You gain what you pay", the color scheme is energetic and deep: we used black and orange to create a strong visual impression.
The use of gradients in some parts is to create stunning effects while also add visual cues.

Solution

Interaction Flow
In order to visualize the interactive journey of coach and student that determines and sets up a training class, I created a single streamlined flow crossing both ends within Eazy’s core features.

Conclusion
I was primarily in charge of visual branding and UI design in the project. I participated in the phases of user research, ideation and prototyping during the process of engaging with other designers and the client. By that means, I could make contributions to the design in an early stage to make sure the product is easy for users to interact with.
